RESOLVED – That Councillor Frost be elected Chair for this appeal.

Items to be Considered in the Absence of the Public and Press.

Minutes:

RESOLVED - That item 8 ‘To consider an appeal against the decision of the Chief Fire Officer to dismiss a Firefighter’ be considered in the absence of the public and press.

Declarations of interest by individual Members in relation to any item of business on the agenda.

Minutes:

Councillor Ball declared an interest in that he knew one of the individuals who had complained to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue about the Appellant.

 

Councillor Ball agreed to take no part in any of the discussion, questioning or voting thereon. 

 

The Committee agreed that Councillor Ball be permitted to observe today’s meeting. 

7.

Exclusion of the Public and Press

Minutes:

RESOLVED – That, under Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business, on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and the public interest not to disclose information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.

To consider an appeal against the decision of the Chief Fire Officer to dismiss a Firefighter.

Minutes:

A meeting of the Appeals and Standards Committee was convened to consider an appeal against dismissal from Appellant BB. 

 

Due to the Appellant’s absence at today’s meeting, the Committee agreed to adjourn the meeting to allow written correspondence to be issued to the Appellant, which would provide him with the benefit of a further, but final, opportunity to present his appeal to the Panel, either in person, or virtually.

 

RESOLVED – That Members of the Appeals and Standards Committee:-

 

i)          Agreed unanimously to adjourn the meeting to allow written correspondence to be issued to the Appellant BB by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority. 

 

ii)         Agreed unanimously to re-convene a meeting of the Appeals and Standards Committee at a later date, if required.
