RESOLVED - That item 8 ‘To consider an appeal against the decision of the Chief Fire Officer to dismiss a Fire Fighter’ be considered in the absence of the public and press.

Exclusion of the Public and Press

Minutes:

RESOLVED – That, under Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business, on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and the public interest not to disclose information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.

To consider an appeal against the decision of the Chief Fire Officer to dismiss a Firefighter

Minutes:

The Appeals Committee having considered the submissions of both parties decided to uphold the Appeal.

 

The Appeals Committee did see this as a serious matter, but felt that the sanction was too severe considering all the circumstances. 

 

RESOLVED – That the original decision of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to dismiss Firefighter TC be upheld.
